Hey Nick, just got the sticks "FANTASTIC", it was worth the wait, nicely balanced, great tip articulation on the cymbal, perfect weight, man i've wanted and searched for stick like that for a long time, one thing, is this the smooth or ruff finish, i had requested them ruff, if this is smooth, it doesn't matter, i'll rub something on them so they won't slip, we'll get them perfect next time, you didn't put the company name on them, on my order, i stated that i was ok with the comp. name, but i know you rushed them out, and i thank you for it; a man of his word, lol; tomorrow i'll test them at a local gig, that will be the final test, i'm aware that maple does not take the punishment like hickory, but i like lightness in weight, hope they hold up,again thanx, and you do have a new customer and i'm sure you'll be getting more order from Miami, i have mentioned it to a lot of other local drummer friends, about the fact that i had found a company that was gonna make me a custom made stick, their first question was the price, so now they waiting to see how they turn out, thank you R.L.

I've just received my Jatobas 5A and I'm VERY HAPPY! I'm surprised on how straight they are (no defect [at] all). I enjoyed the smoothness of them, the only thing that was wrong was that I ordered them one inch too long and they couldn't fit into my stick bag, lol. So I cut an inch off the end You guys will be the only place I buy drumsticks from now on. Wish they wouldn't take so long to make but you can't rush excellence! Hey Guys, I just got my sticks today and I gotta tell ya I love them. They're really good. I already have some ideas for what I can do next time around to narrow in on what I'm looking for even more. My only thought with 1 of the sticks maybe two was that is was very smooth. There was a knot on the wood and it was a little rough to hold. Other than that though, great job! I just received my sticks. It took a while but well worth it! I'm able to have a big thick stick without all the wait of a normal 1A hickory. I love the maple. The one thing is that a medium taper looks and is more like a short. I would suggest a long. A.E.

Got the 27 pairs yesterday. About 24 pair felt just about the same in weight (nice!), a couple pair are noticeably lighter, and one was a bit heavier. WHY do I call this out? Heavier pair = Nice warm-up pair that are the same as the regular ones yay! Lighter pairs = the sticks I can use on those couple quieter tunes yay! I like the printed CDS label on the end A LOT better than the sticker. It was thin but I did notice it. Kinda bugged me at first but I got used to it, but it's gone, so GOOD. My 2 wishes in the future would be that the sanding on them was a bit more consistent and not so many rougher ones, and, that the tip ends weren't all burned from sanding the nub off. I didn't really mind the real dark colored sticks. I'm used to lighter sticks (like in stores), but they feel great so I'm not bugged by it. Nice job again, I'm set for a bit... unless I decide to do another model. Oh, I looked and looked, and counted and counted, but I was one stick short. Unless my order was 24 + 2 free pair, then never mind. I'm not giving that one stick back--it's the best one! Joking aside, rough few sticks aside, Great job you guy's. I have never had a stick feel so perfect in my hand every time I pick them up. Usually it was always "something" that I wish a stick was, but these are great and effortless to play with....unless I get a splinter ha! Karl K.C.

Hello Nick and Tim! I just received my recent order, and I'm super psyched about the sticks! On my previous order (which was my first), I was just figuring out what to get, and I've gotten a little closer to my ideal stick with the latest order. In the first order the butt of the sticks was fairly squared like many of the Vater designs. I requested a more rounded butt end and the new sticks are a lot more comfortable. Also, with my previous order the sticks had a .551" diameter, and I felt that the neck and tip were too narrow. But of course the stick did have a very narrow diameter. On these newer sticks (.559" diameter) the neck width and tip size are larger, which is better suited for me. Also, I tend to find that I like the sticks sanded a bit more with a finer grit, so I just do it by hand. Just my preference though. That's about it for the comments, I'm really happy with the new sticks! I did have a question for you guys. I'm wondering how you make the sticks? I've seen other people make them with a back-knife lathe, but each stick design requires a separately profiled lathe cutting tool. How do you guys do it? Thanks! Matt McCallus Chapel Hill, NC M.M.

I got my initial 3 pair of sticks yesterday. I have to say they are exactly what I was HOPING to have them turn out to be. I say 'hoping' because I always think "maybe it should have..." or, "maybe they should be..." Nope, just right. I needed a stick that felt balanced, still real sturdy, but not like a log so I can get around easily. These felt just right, and since they are .570 like the double butt sticks I was using, the neck and taper are hefty enough on these that I can flip them around for the songs I want that type of sound and feel on. I really like the squared off butt end too. I have used Regal Tip brand sticks for eons, and I loved (& was used to) their finish a lot, and at first, when I felt the CDS sticks, I was a bit unsure but I really like the finish on the sticks you applied. I just received my first order from you, and I'm super impressed at the quality! Honestly, I wasn't expecting the quality to be very good, but I'm just astounded at how great the sticks are. Perfectly straight, solid, consistentand totally customized.
